Who are we?
We come from a family of sugar producers going back more than six generations. Founded in 1847, Couplet Sugars is a 100% family-owned company that has grown over the years to become a global leader in pearl sugar.
Our pearl sugar is produced in Belgium from sugar beets, a crop widely grown in Europe but virtually unknown in the Americas. It is this sugar that gives our authentic Liège waffles their unique flavor and delicious caramelized crust.
But why San Miguel de Allende? At the age of 18, Paul's mother, Marie-Pascale, discovered Mexico through a Rotary International exchange program. She fell in love with the country right away, and years later it was only natural for her to come back and settle in San Miguel de Allende with her family.
The plan was simple: give Paul the chance to learn Spanish and English… and the ways of business. Waffles were the obvious choice, given how much they are loved throughout the Americas.
But remember: there are waffles… and waffles.
Our prices are in Mexican pesos and do not include taxes or gratuity. Drinks do not include refills.
